Falling in love with Melbourne

An amble in the lush green meadows or a romantic walk near the beaches, a vacation is an experience of a lifetime. Melbourne, is one of the most happening cities, with loads and loads of things to experience and awesome places to visit.

While Meghna was totally unaware of what’s going on in Ajay’s mind. She was happy that after a tiff they had a week back, he is giving her some time and attention. Meghna and Ajay were married for 4 years and she wanted to spend the 5th anniversary differently. When she shared her Idea with Ajay, he just shrugged off and said “will see”. That day they had a big fight and the tizzy was there for 2 days.  Ajay was too busy lately and his frustration would be the reason for their fights.

Sitting on the couch upset about her husband, Meghna literally gave up her desire to spend the anniversary together. While she was lost in a thought about how they first met and he proposed her in the college cafeteria in front of her college mates, she thought that there is no spark left in their married life and that exasperated her . Suddenly she realized that the phone was ringing and she had 3 missed calls already. It was Ajay, she answered the call and Ajay said,” I am coming home right now.”She was surprised and worried “Is everything fine”, she asked. “Yes, I will talk to you once I come there” and he hung up the phone on her. Flummoxed, she waited for Ajay.

As soon as he came home , he said “Get ready we are going for shopping”. Before she could ask anything, he said, “Hurry up, we have a lot of packing to be done as well and don’t ask me any question”. Now she smelled something fishy, but she was kind of excited about the surprise waiting ahead.

“Australia!!!!” she said excitedly. “We are going to Melbourne? I can’t believe Ajay. This is the greatest gift ahead of our anniversary Honey!” She said, while they boarded the plane.  Ajay gave her a smile and that said it all. Now she was exuberant and was desperately waiting for the bunch of surprises ahead of their trip.

Next morning they reached their hotel, and couldn’t wait to explore the city.  And the jet lag didn’t really come her way of excitement.  The next few days will be full of excitement and surprises and Meghna made up her mind on that. The first thing in the morning, they headed towards the MCG . ”The Melbourne Cricket ground which is going to host the world cup final 2015”, explained Ajay. “Man! That would be a crazy affair; I would love to experience the magical extravaganza. My only dream would be to stand and shout, INDIA INDIA! “She screamed in excitement. It’s going to be spectacular and crazy, they thought. After day dreaming of experiencing a spectacular world cup final 2015, they left the place.

Every minute and everything came as surprise to Meghna and she was super-duper excited. Next destination was the Penguin Parade  which is the third biggest attraction in Australia. You get to see the cute little penguins returning from the sea to their burrows at Summerland Beach. They had a great time watching the Penguin parade which is view worth watching at night.

Now it was time for some luscious delicacies and food. Melbourne is known for the finest and wide variety of food they offer. They have a glut of options available. The next big surprise for Meghna was the Seal Watching which she had always heard about but it was time to experience. So off they went on a cruise which takes them for a two-hour tour to the Australia’s largest wild fur seal colony situated on seal rocks witnessing their (Seal’s) world first hand. After the tiring one day long trip and sightseeing, they were off to bed to experience another fresh day and loads of fun.

Next day looked even more promising with the very first thing was watching  12 Apostles  from the sky. They boarded a chopper to experience the magnificent rock stacks that rise up from the southern ocean of the Victoria’s coastline. Experiencing the sunrise and sunset is a view of a lifetime as the rocks changes colour and it looks spectacular. A scenic view of the ocean and the rocks will make you fall in love for sure. She could just not take her eyes off the view. Looks like Ajay was giving her surprise after surprise and she was just going crazy.

The next big thing was the Eureka SkyDeck. Here Ajay had a different plan. He just blindfolded Meghna and took her in the escalator to the 88 floor of the building, where you get the best view of the city. The whole time, she was desperate to open the blindfold and couldn’t wait to see the spectacular view. And when he opened the blindfold, the view was scary as well as extravagant. This sky deck lift can take you to “The Edge”- A glass cube which slides out from the building with you inside. Now this looked like the floor literally moving under you and that was something worth experiencing.

Tomorrow was their anniversary and Meghna was waiting for the biggest surprise. Ajay asked her to get up t 5 AM. A romantic view of the sunrise in the Hot Air Balloon it was. And she was Awestruck and mesmerized with this surprise. The scenic view of the vineyard , the forests and what not from up there was something which she never imagined and once again he proposed  her once again and they spent the most beautiful and romantic moment in the middle of the sky and the earth. This was definitely the best anniversary gift that Meghna had got and the most beautiful time spent with Ajay which they will cherish for a lifetime.

  1. I would like to visit The Twelve Apostles!
With a touch of nature’s divinity of colour-changing sand rocks, the far stretch of blue of the ocean touching the blue of skies, I would love to experience the nature’s celebration there absolutely, completely and in totality!

  2. I would love to visit the Panny’s famous chocolate factory. That is because he is an Indian. Panny is actually Kodandpani Lakhmanan. He arrived in Melbourne via Malaysia and Papua New Guinea, where he had worked on cocoa and coconut plantations before immigrating Down Under. He is now legend in Australia. He has made we Indians proud. Besides his chocolates are mouthwatering.

  3. I would like to travel in the tram. I have never travelled in one and it would be wonderful to travel in one and go across the city and watch the buzz of the city around. Also I would like to see the street arts. I love doing and watching art ans guess, I would stand there mesmerized for hours and i would need someone to travel with me to bring me back to earth.

  4. Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I would definitely want to visit all those amazing places when I get to visit Melbourne 🙂 But of all, my top pick would be a visit to Yarra valley for a beautiful sunrise balloon flight. After seeing the video, I can’t stop myself from dreaming a romantic magical flight above the scenic vineyards and watching the sunrise from up above! Throw in my favorite wine, I will doubly enjoy the ride sipping my glass and taking sensational selfies all the way 🙂 Now I can’t think of a better way of spending a vacation!!

Next of course, cruising through the great ocean road in a open-top car to enjoy the coastal scenery and the iconic 12 apostles for the nature’s amazing work at play. Then a ride around the city in the vintage trams to enjoy its urban splendor and the legendary puffing billy to enjoy its natural splendor. Finally a day at the hot springs to unwind and totally rejuvenate myself 🙂

  5. The places that you’ve chosen are really good! All the best!
As for answering your question, I would love to visit the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Being a cricket enthusiast, I don’t think I would getter a better thrill in Australia than watching a Boxing Day Test Match live at the MCG. The Australian cricket fans are very hostile towards opposition players but are the first to appreciate a good player. I would want to sit amongst the 100,000 fans and cheer for my team. It would be even better if I got a seat next to Anushka Sharma so that if Virat Kohli scores a century and blows a kiss at her again, I would be on TV 😀

  6. Yarra Valley Wineyard of course. Since 1992 Yarra winery tours are being organized in a professional way. Loads of wine tastings and the best food. The winery makes you fall in love with the beautiful way of stacking the wine bottles. I would want to visit this because of my love for old wine and also because the best of the wine is served here. The whole of Melbourne has adorable places but this one would surely attract me more than once in my visit and after seeing Tanmay and Rohans visit I am eager to go there soon…. 🙂
