I wonder, the ads that we have been watching from ages, when did it evolve at the first place. And when it first started how it would have been like, the background, the concept, or everything, for that matter. But good or bad, ads have become a part and parcel of our life and some ads we just love while some we can’t stand. It is like the daily soaps that we come across in every channel when we press the remote button and then when we find something interesting we just stop by for a glimpse. Love it or hate it, they are there in dozens and we have no choice.
Wait, wait wait! Did I just say daily soap? Oh yeah! But have you ever noticed ads are something which we can stand to an extent, but daily soaps we just cannot stand. Or may be some can. But have you ever imagined if the ads are too made in a typical Indian daily soap style? I guess every character would have so many reactions at a time. But in a way it will be interesting as every day a new episode will keep the excitement high and the TRP will increase drastically and people will wait for the ads in between the serials. Let’s be more creative.
Detergent ad: Like the detergent ad, the scenario is that the husband asks for his shirt and when the wife opens the wardrobe and brings his shirt in slow motion, everyone is shocked and the camera focuses on every member of the family, including the maids and the pets and all has the same expression. And then to be continued…..and we wait for the next episode.
Next day, the same expression continues for 15 minutes with the background music. And then the wife looks at the shirt and she is equally startled. There is a stain on the shirt? OMG what a blunder! Meanwhile, others expression continues to be the same. Then the vamp of the serial gives a cunning smile feeling happy that the main character has done a mistake and then all of a sudden her expression changes again to a surprised one… Again to be continued…
Next day, the continuation of the expression of the vamp and what does she sees in her hand? Nirma washing powder or any other detergent, for that matter, and then the whole family’s expression changes to a happy one, except the vamp who feels insulted and unhappy.
Now the wife washes the shirt without a single stain and it would be neat as a button and the husband is happy and the family happy and a happy background song with tears of happiness rolling down the cheeks of the family members. So the daily soap continues with different theme every time and a typical family drama in between.
And imagine the housewives discussing the ads “arey usme dekhe tune, bahu ne kaise sabki bolti band kardi. Mujhe to pata tha, woh shirt ko saaf kar degi”…blah blah.
Eww!! An ad in a daily soap style!! But believe me the TRP will increase drastically and the woman folk will be the happiest. And what if all the ads are made in the same genre, a daily soap ad in between a daily soap? OMG! But it would definitely be funny. But Then people will stop watching Television altogether. Imagine a daily soap ad between breaking news.
