Smart phones have become an integral part of our lives. I reminisce, when I was a little girl, having a landline phone was a matter of pride and we would flaunt in front of any and every guests who arrived at our house. The phone used to ring and no matter where we are, we used to come running and dashing each other to answer the call. It was crazy.
Then with the breakthrough of technology, wireless phones came, our flaunting didn’t stop, walking on the terrace trying to impress the girl / boy next-door with this new toy pretending to talk. Oh what fun it was! Years passed and then came the mobile phones, which we call the basic phone now. It was a feeling of being the richest in the town, still our flaunting didn’t stop, setting the weirdest ringtones, which will surely grab a lot of eyeballs and that’s what we wanted, to let people know about this new thing we have.
And then came the smart phones. As times changed the technology advanced and the features in the phones too changed. And now every other day we have a new launch with more features and advanced technologies. Life has become a cake walk with smart phones. It’s like a small world in your pocket. Travelling? You needn’t take your DSLRs and cameras now, with the HD camera quality in the phones, you can click the pics anywhere and the burden of carrying the whole set of cameras and its chargers and then the tripod has reduced completely.
Then comes the Maps, Imagine going to a completely new place and you have no idea how to reach there, with Google maps, it is as simple as chugging a jug of water.
Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, social media has become easy with a swipe of the button. No need to sit in front of the laptop to update your status or to upload your resume or pics.
Apart from these, there are so many apps, which make life easy, apps for safety of women, apps for cab, parlour, electrician, home services, banks transactions, writing blogs , games, Listening to music, watching movies, dining out, e-commerce sites, all are just a click away. One just can’t imagine that your whole world revolves around this small piece of metal or plastic, which has become our life.
Catching up with old friends through whatsApp, video calling etc., in some ways it brings together old buddies and relatives. So it indeed has impacted our life deeply. And now we cannot imagine a life without smart phones. At least not me, spending a day sans mobile is next to impossible. But looking at the brighter side, it keeps us connected with the world, and technology.
So all in all, the impact of Smartphone has been huge and one just can’t deny the fact that it has made life –easier for most of us.
